“Passion Project” turned Passion Planning…

This past December I did something that I thought I would never do…I got a part-time job at Anthropologie for the holiday season. Now most people would say, “…but aren’t you a pharmacist?!” to which I will reply YES! So why did I decided to work for $10 per hour during the busiest season of the year you ask? Well mainly to have access to their awesome employee discount, and secondly to do something I’ve always wanted…work at Anthropologie.

My love for the URBN companies (UO, Free People, Anthropologie, and BHLDN) started with Urban Outfitters in 2005. At the time I was living in the east Oakland hills, going to school at Holy Names University. I, along with my best friend Brittany and a slew of other Xavierites, spent my “Katrina semester” in the Bay area. We would hop on the BART at Fruitvale Station and take the 7 mile ride over to San Francisco. This is where I fell in love with the 3-level Urban Outfitters. In all honesty, the bulk of my FEMA, tuition refund check, and Tom Joyner money went to shopping. SIDE NOTE: I legit left New Orleans with three pair of underwear, two t-shrits, and two pairs of sweatpants. I mean, I was a sophomore in college and the previous year I made the novice mistake of packing up my entire freshman dorm room just to return three days later. Needless to say, ALL purchases were necessary.

So yea, you get a 40% discount off all clothing, shoes, and accessories. You also get sixties, which is 60% off four tops, four bottoms, and three accessories. Fortunately I was empolyed while something called “appreciation” was going zone **pops gum**…that’s where you get 40% off home and sale. Did I mention you get 40% off at Free People and Urban Outfitters? Needless to say, I BAWL’D OUT! Plus it was fun to work there amongst beautiful clothing and killer interior design. Being a new momma it was the much needed break I needed from the “milking station” and it allowed me to keep my sanity and remember that I still got it! I was able to get dressed super cute every day I worked and made sure my face was beat to the gods…yeah, I loved working at Anthro. I felt as if I were in high school again, picking out and planning outfits lol. Plus, it forced me to purchase my first pair of “adult” shoes…at 33 years old! Ha!

My passion project to work at Anthro (or any URBN company for that matter) lead to me coming across a PASSION PLANNER. What the hell is a passion planner you ask? It’s literally a agenda that holds your “passion” plans. The actual planner defines a passion plan as a “…mind map that visually breaks down your goals into steps that are specfic, actionable, measurable, and time sensitive.” Passion planners are essentially the new avocado toast and us millenials cannot stop raving about them. I ended up with two, one from Amazon.com (cover pictured above) and the other from passionplanner.com (inside pictured above). They are both undated, have amazing reviews online, and are organized completely different. I decided to start with the branded passion planner because I like the way it helps you streamline your wish list and make actionable steps toward them. Have you tried a passion planner before? What are your thoughts on them?
